I SPY: Lucky Duck

Jun 9, 2016

What are you into?  I'm into truffles.  I'm into foie gras.  I'm into Japanese, and I love that salt!  I'm that kinda girl lately.  One lucky duck living in NYC, spoiling her tummy with some of the best eats man has created.  Yes I do think my city is better then yours!  HA.

Speaking of duck, I had the most innovative tacos after my museum date at Kappo Masa.  I usually would've ordered my usual.  But it was Tuesday and only fitting to be adventurous and make it a Taco Tuesday.  Crispy Peking duck, and foie gras stuffed in bite size tacos.  Well hello…HEAVEN.

Uni (Sea Urchin) is another popular delicacy trending on menus these days.  It's an acquired taste, but I love it!  If your a virgin to it then this is a good place to have your first taste.  This is hands down the best Uni I've ever had, and always have to order this dish when I'm there.  Uni Custard.  Served in a real Sea Urchin shell is uni mixed with egg and mayo, and shaved truffles on top.  CREAMY goodness.

That's all light!  So you need the carbs to fill you up.  *wink*  Their squid ink pasta, with roasted maitake s'hrooms is the best.  So simple but exotic.

Last but not least...dessert!  Pomegranate Garnite.  Chunks of pomegranate fruit topped with pomegranate flavored crushed ice, drizzled in sake.  My kind of slurpee.  You can't get this at 7 - Eleven!  This is the adult gourmet version.  Tart, frothy and refreshing.

Do I have you foaming at the mouth yet?  Definitely not dishes you'll find at any ordinary Japanese restaurant.  Chef Masa is the man!  Drop in the next time your on the Upper East Side.
