I SPY: A Tea Party

May 12, 2016

When girls play dress up it's only natural to throw a tea party isn't it?  To commemorate my brides last day in NYC before returning home we had to end her whirlwind trip on a high note.  Tea at the Baccarat Hotel.  Fit for a Princess!  So, so, FANCY.

It's a crystal French luxury palace.  Obviously using their signature Baccarat crystal!  From the chandeliers, to the polished floors, to the accent red roses, and the jewel tone champagne flutes you walk into a VERY modern posh setting.

High tea is served in their Grand Salon only from Wednesday to Sunday from 1:30pm to 3:30 pm.  Reservations are required 24 hours in advance.  They offer an a la carte menu, or a set tea time menu.  Either the King Louis XV, which is only sweets.  Or The Prince of Wales, which is a mix of sweets and savory sandwiches, plus scones with clotted cream and jam.  You know which one we ordered?  The full spread!  Accompanied by champagne and a large selection of gourmet teas.

The presentation was pristine and gorgeous on that crystal.  The sandwiches were yummy, especially those mini lobster rolls!  The Mille - feuille Napolean pastry was my favorite sweet because it was so light and delicate.  Wasn't so impressed with the dense petite fours on the top tier though.

What you see is two orders combined and served on one three tiered stand.  It didn't seem a lot at first, and greedy me asked for the a la carte menu to have on stand by in case I was still hungry.  HA.  But it was just enough.  Perfect serving size.  Don't need to always over stuff myself do I?  HA.

To end, I took a peek into the bar that is adjacent to the tea room.  WOW.  Doesn't it look swanky?  We will have to come back here one night for drinks.  Take note…lovely date spot to celebrate a special occasion!
