I SPY: Over The Bridge

Sep 10, 2015

Want to make the most of the last days of this gorgeous summer weather?  I definitely am trying to prolong the summer vibes as long as I can.  I'm not ready to be stuck indoors again and deal with another frigid NY winter!  SCARE.

Last weekend we went over the bridge to enjoy our day of endless outdoor activity at the 85 acre Brooklyn Bridge Park.  Have you been?

For starts you get an amazing view of Manhattan.

Option to rent a bike if you like, or else it's an easy paved stroll along the pier.

Find this cool stained glass house, designed by Tom Fruin.

Next door is Jane's Carousel, a must if you've got kiddos.

Check out the 18 Please Touch The Art free standing sculptures scattered around the park.  Play on them, sit on them, or just admire.  Print out this scavenger hunt sheet to start your mission and cross off what you find.

My ultimate favorite of the collection was the Mirror Labyrinth.  I couldn't get enough of walking around it and in it!

All that activity will make you hungry, and there are plenty of great spots to grab a bite.  We chose Luke's Lobster.  Gotta get in our last Lobster roll of the summer!

If you need to cool off there is the sprinklers.  I left it to the last because I know my kids wouldn't be able to refrain from getting soaked!

A little fun for everyone of all ages over there right?  Even a dog park for Eddy!  If your in NY get over there and enjoy while the weather is still nice.  It's a scenic trek over the brooklyn bridge either by foot, bike or car.  Or else you can try the water taxi.  In the twenty years I've lived here I've never been on one!  Was planning to come home on that, but missed it by 5 minutes.  Oh well, next summer!

P.S. I dwell on only hanging out in this park in summer.  But FYI it is open all year round.  So if your not a wimp like me and into walking around in the cold, go for it!  ENJOY.
