I SPY: My Saturday

May 18, 2015

So what did you end up doing this weekend?  My Saturday was spent on Randall's Island at the Frieze Art Fair.  I got culture over load!  So many amazing artists, and contemporary art it made my head spin.  If you didn't get to go here are some of the pieces that spoke to me.

B Wurtz  - Pan Paintings: Acrylic on aluminium

Natalia L - Series Consumer Art 1975

Keith Haring

Paolo PIVI - It's not fair: Urethane, foam, plastic, feathers

ULAY - Anagrammatic Body, 2015

Kader Attia - Halam Tawaaf: 2,978 beer cans

Kris Lemsalu - Whole Alone 2: Live human body under a porcelain turtle shell on a water bed.

Gary Panter
Jac Leirner - Teretete: Plastic rulers

XU Zhen - Under Heaven: Oil on canvas

Carlos Garaicoa - Escala 1:1 : Plexiglass and silk screen ink

Linder - It's The Buzz, Cock!

Barbara Kruger - Connect: Archival print

Richard Artschwager - Exclamation Point: Plastic bristles on a mahogany core painted with latex

Korakrit Arunanondchai - Growing Up Together: Denim massage chairs

Joseph Kosuth - Self Defined Object: Yellow neon

Jonathan Horowitz - 100 Dots: Acrylic on canvasAny favorites?  Besides the art it can also be quite a fashion scene.  GOOD people watching, I say!

Besides these die hard fashionistas, it's otherwise a relaxed scene, loads of eye candy, and fun to hang out at.  Catch it next year in New York around the same time in May.  Or maybe one year I can make it to London Frieze Art Fair in October?  That would be fun!  One day…HA.
