I SPY: The Tomahawk

Apr 15, 2015

What is a Tomahawk?  Google's definition is:

  1. 1.
a light ax used as a tool or weapon by American Indians.
  1. 1.
strike or cut with or as if with a tomahawk.

Well, I just experienced a different kind of Tomahawk.  A 40 day dry age 44 oz Tomahawk ribeye juicy steak at Costata.  It was obscene.  Cave man looking.  But delish and cooked to perfection at medium rare.  The bone could be used at the end of meal as a real Tomahawk.  That thing could knock some one out!

Even Eddy was afraid to get down and dirty with this 14" inch long beast.  HA.  For the longest time he would just sit, stare, take a few licks, walk around it and keep REPEAT-ing.

This bone prop served as a great photo - op tool, and now I have it stored in my freezer.  It's going to make a great Halloween costume.  Flintstones here we come!  HA.

If your in for the experience, the photo - op and a good dose of red meat then The Tomahawk is worthwhile.  However, the rest of the menu at Costata did not highly impress me.  Maybe you don't order seafood at a steak house?  Well majority of their appetizers were seafood which didn't leave me much choice!  If you must, the grilled octopus was the best out of all the appetizers and not over powered by sauce.  For dessert the chocolate tart was decent.  The Tomahawk steak is what they're really known for guys, so stick with that and don't waste your money ordering outside the meat box like me!
