I SPY: Attention Beer Guzzlers

Oct 7, 2014

Oktoberfest has passed, but want more beer?  Head over to Belgian Beer Cafe.  They've got a good selection of Belgian bottle and beer on tap, and this month they're paying tribute to their German neighbors.  It's a new restaurant that opened last month in the Nomad district.  It's not phenomenal, but its got a good vibe.  I like the spacious restaurant & bar layout, the brasserie setting, and love the light fixtures.

I was impressed by how they serve each of their beers in the original glass from each brewery.  Keeps things authentic!  Each glass design and logo is unique.

Food was good.  Enjoyed the bar bites best.  Who doesn't like deviled eggs?  Out of the lot the bacon and the salmon deviled eggs were the best.  Tasted like eggs benedict!  Pair them with the mini caramelized onion and gruyere tarts and your off to a good start.  Was like eating French onion soup minus the broth.  Yummy!

For my main I had the mussels in Thai curry sauce with frites.  The aroma alone was appetizing! The duck breast also received no complaints.  Dessert?  Of course!  The warm apple crepe with vanilla ice cream was a perfect Fall dessert.  Simple and comforting.

Overall I rate this new joint a 7.  Drop in if your in the hood.  But don't trek out of the way though!  Get what I'm sayin'? WINK!
